NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 4 – Officers from the Directorate of the Criminal Investigation have recovered 243 television sets suspected to be part of property worth Sh15 million which was stolen from a go-down belonging to a business owner in Athi River on December 1 last year.
According to the DCI, the TVs were recovered at a residential house in Buru-Buru Phase 4.
“Detectives pursuing a Criminal Cartel that on 1st Dec 2019 stole over 15M worth of Flat Screen TVs early today recovered another 243 SYINIX TVs in a strenuous operation at a Residential House in Buru-Buru Estate Phase IV, Ukunda Court,” the agency stated.
During the raid a 56 year old man was arrested and will be arraigned in court on Monday to answer to charges of robbery with violence.
The DCI says they have so far recovered 373 television sets, alongside other electronics.
Two suspects have been already charged in connection with the robbery after they were nabbed on December 31 with approximately 130 television sets among other assorted electronics which were recovered at a residential house in Mbiuni area, Machakos County.
Police on December 28 recovered 149 mobile phones during a crackdown within Nairobi CBD where 10 suspects were apprehended.
The recovery was made after cops raided six stalls along Racecourse Road.
Some 150 dismantled and five laptops were recovered.
The DCI has further warned members of the public against purchasing electronics devices such as laptops, mobile phones and TV sets from traders who lack requisite trade documents, including licenses, permits and other local and national approvals.
