TAITA TAVETA, Kenya, Dec 25 – Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has pledged support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying it will help entrench devolution and better governance in the country.

According to the Governor, the move will rescue the County constituencies from being scrapped-off for failing to meet the threshold required as per the latest census results.

Speaking during a funeral service for the late nominated Taita Taveta County Assembly Member Ananstanzia Wakesho, Samboja said he will host a series of public barazas across the County to sensitize the public on the benefits contained in the report.

“We fully support the BBI since it has shielded our constituencies from either being merged or being scrapped-off. Before the end of February next year I will organize for a mega rally where the public will be given an opportunity to air their views on the report.” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by other leaders who joined him in eulogizing the late tourism ambassador, with the County Senator Johnes Mwaruma saying BBI Is a solution to the high unemployment rate among youths in the country.

Wundanyi legislator Danson Mwashako said the report will help compensate the unattained promises by the Jubilee regime.

“Let’s utilize this opportunity given to us by our principals. As leadership of this County, we need to relook at the employment issues which the Jubilee government promised to deliver but up to date has seen little happen. It’s time we use the report to restore the youths’ trust for their leaders in this country,” he said.

The County Deputy Governor Majala Mlagui eulogized the late MCA as a dedicated ambassador in the tourist sector.

Taveta Member of Parliament Naomi Shaban urged the Assembly to work on the tourism policy that will not only boost the local tourism but also increase the County revenue.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana eulogized the late as a dedicated and humble leader who could spend her time volunteering for the society and called on County residents to borrow a leaf from the life of Ananstanzia.
