NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 22 – A police constable attached to Lafey in Mandera County has been arrested in Isinya, Kajiado, over the theft of a solar panel.
The officer identified as Francis Wafula is said to have stolen the equipment from an Oloosirikona resident in Mandera.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), acting on alarm raised by the resident arrested the suspect on Saturday and recovered the said solar panel.
“Detectives rushed to his residence whereupon they arrested the Suspect and recovered the said Solar Panel from him. He remains in Police custody awaiting arraignment for the offense of stealing,” DCI stated in a tweet on Sunday.
The police officer who is now in detention awaiting arraignment in court reportedly stormed into the victim’s compound and forcefully seized the panel.
