KISII, Kenya Dec 25 – Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ongera has urged women to form groups and harvest big from the affirmative action kits set up by the national government to boost them in small businesses.
Speaking in Kisii town when she donated Christmas goodies to widows, orphans and widowers in the county, she emphasized that it is easier for people to benefit from the government when they are organised groups.
“Today I decided to surprise vulnerable groups from all the 45 wards in out county,” she said.
By having women in such groups, it will also help them access bursaries because some don’t get them and it will be easier for her to visit the groups and account for each bursary.
“We have already put them in groups from each sub-location and we have this in 20 wards,” she said, “I will personally visit them.”
She said her office has already given out 2500 bursaries to widows, with a target of more.
