NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 28- Police in Nairobi have recovered more than 150 stolen mobile phones during a raid carried out on Friday night.

The raid was conducted at six stalls at a building along Race-Course road.

Central Police Sub-County commander Mark Wanjala said the team also recovered five laptops, a camera, and the mobile phones, many of them dismantled for spare parts.

“Our officers moved in when they received information that indicates they are people buying stolen mobile phones,” Wanjala told reporters on Saturday, “it is a cartel we must dismantle because they encourage mobile phones theft by creating a market for it.”

He urged anyone who has lost a mobile phone or a laptop to identify them at Kamukunji and Central Police stations.

Ten people were arrested and detectives were seeking to establish their exact roles in the syndicate as they plan to arraign them on Monday.

Police have warned the public against purchasing or dealing in stolen items, because “if we arrest you, you will have to face charges.”
