MOMBASA, Kenya, Nov 11 – A heavy downpour early Monday caught Mombasa residents by surprise, causing flooding in the city’s Central Business District resulting in traffic jams
Other areas affected included the upmarket Nyali Estate, Majengo, Fidel Odinga Road where flooded roads caused a snarl-up.
Some residents experienced difficulties leaving their houses due to huge amounts of surface waters.
The severe conditions caused problems for motorists and commuters on the road.
The Mombasa-Malindi Road was chaotic with the flood water disrupting the flow of traffic in what yet again exposed the city’s poor drainage system.
