NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 13 – Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha is Monday set to preside over a consultative forum on the administration of this year’s national examinations.
The conference set to be held at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi will explore measures to secure the integrity of national examinations.
Prof Magoha is expected to engage regional coordinators, county coordinators, and sub-county coordinators of education.
It is also expected that during the engagement, the regional officers will be issued with new padlocks and keys to the metallic containers where the examination papers are going to be stored.
Other stakeholders expected to attend the forum are Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) officers, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Parents Association representatives, and teachers’ unions.
This will be the first time Prof Magoha will preside over National Examinations since his appointment in March when he took over from Amina Mohamed who was moved to the Ministry of Sports and Culture.

Magoha recently said the ministry were alarmed by the number of fake papers circulating on social media urging students to focus on revision in the remaining few weeks and avoid being misled.
“I want to affirm that there has been no early exposure of the papers and it will not happen. Revise the fake papers circulating on social media at your own peril,” he said this when he inspected the exam containers in Lang’ata, Nairobi, last month.
He stated that all the 459 containers that will be housing the examination materials have been assessed and they are ready for the safe custody of exam materials.
This year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) is scheduled to commence on October 29 with the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) set to begin on November 1.
Some 1.8 million candidates will sit the KCPE and KCSE for 1,088,986.
According to a timetable released by KNEC, candidates sitting for KCPE are due for rehearsals on October 29 with examinations commencing from October 30 to November 1.
The KCPE exams will begin with Mathematics and English papers being administered on day one, Science and Kiswahili on day two, and Social Studies and Religious Studies on the final day.
Candidates sitting for KCSE are due for rehearsals on November 2 with examinations scheduled to start on November 5.
KCSE candidates will start off with Mathematics Alternative A and B, and Chemistry Paper 1 and 2.
