Mombasa, Kenya Oct 17 – Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa was due back in court Thursday morning to know her fate after the prosecution sought to have her detained for three weeks to enable police complete investigations on chaos that led to the fatal shooting of a man in Ganda Ward on Tuesday night.

Jumwa spent her second night in police custody, after the prosecution failed to prefer charges on her and her bodyguard during Wednesday’s court appearance.

She was presented in court alongside her bodyguard named in court documents as Geoffrey Okuto Otieno.

The two were arraigned before Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Vincent Adet who was deferred her ruling to Thursday morning.

Jumwa is accused of storming a meeting organised by ODM candidate Reuben Katana at his home, where chaos ensued, with locals accusing her driver of shooting a person who later succumbed to injuries in hospital.

During the chaos, a 48-year-old man, Gumbao Julo, an uncle to the ODM candidate, was shot dead.

Julo is an uncle to the ODM candidate.

Jumwa accused Katana and ODM brigade of campaigning way after the deadline set by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deadline.

Jumwa, an ODM rebel MP, supports an independent candidate, Abdul Omar. She is also the chief agent of the candidate.

She fell out with ODM for openly supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
