NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 5 – Five supervisors at Rai Cement Company in Kericho County were on Saturday arrested over the murder of former General Manager Chetan Vyas.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said the five were arrested after a forensic investigation placed them at the scene of crime.

“They were arrested after extensive forensic investigations of the crime scene in the residential house and entire vicinity where the victim was murdered,” the DCI said.

Vyas was murdered late last month within his residence in Kericho.

Of the five arrested, two are aged 24, another 29 while the rest are aged 38.

The DCI said those arrested were all loading supervisors at the company and they all come from Mombasa town.

Police had late last month arrested a security guard at the factory over the murder.

“The suspect was captured by CCTV cameras moving the ladder which his two other accomplices used to scale the factory’s perimeter wall and into the deceased’s house,” Kericho Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss, Stephen Magwe, said on September 26 after the guard was arrested.

Vyas, 50, was found dead inside his house with hands and legs tied.

Police said he was strangled to death.
