NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 19 – Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has declared support for Opposition ODM candidate Imran Okoth for the Kibra Parliamentary race despite his Jubilee Party having its own candidate who was endorsed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kamanda visited ODM leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Thursday and declared that he is firmly behind the Opposition candidate, opting not to support MacDonald Mariga who is widely seen as a project for Deputy President William Ruto.

His support, he said, is largely informed by the March 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga that signaled unity.

His announcement comes a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto assured Jubilee candidate.
