Govt rolls out e-passport centres in four new locations

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 12 – The Immigration Department has rolled out the issuance of e-passport in four new locations locally.

Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi is set to lauch the first centre in Nakuru on Wednesday with other stations to include Kisii, Eldoret and Embu, thereby distributing 1,500 daily new applicants across those offices.

Officials said that Kenyans will get the services near their areas and this will ease pressure in Nairobi.

The government has also rolled the services at Kenyan embassies in Pretoria, London, Paris, Dubai, Washington and Beijing whcih will be opened by the end of this month.

The move comes following complaints that some Kenyans abroad have been incurring expenses traveling to the country for the services.
