Police recover pistol from pit latrine in Mihango

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 16 – Police have recovered a pistol from a pit latrine in Mihango area, Nairobi.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the pistol with 15 bullets was found wrapped in a polythene paper where it was stuffed two months ago.

Through its twitter account, the DCI stated that they are holding a 49-year-old woman who owns the latrine and had been linked to the stealing of the weapon in Ruai in January this year.

“@DCI_Kenya Detectives today afternoon, working on information, recovered a Pistol (Czeska)loaded with Fifteen rounds of ammunition from the Pit Latrine of 49-Year-old Lydia Njeri Mwangi. The firearm had been reported stolen at Ruai Police Station in January 2019,” it stated.

“Upon arrest, the suspect led the #DCI Detectives to her Pit latrine which they had to completely empty before the firearm was recovered.”

The officers had to empty the latrine before recovering the weapon that is not serviceable.
