NAIROBI, Kenya, May 14 – Police have been allowed to hold 15 people arrested Monday with fake gold metal bars for a week to enable detectives conclude investigations.

A magistrate’s court in Milimani granted the request, saying the period will be sufficient to finalise the matter and decide the charges to prefer against the suspects.

Police had sought to be given two weeks, arguing that they need to establish the nationalities of three of them and analyse data from phones and computers recovered from them.

Some of them were arrested at a heavily guarded house in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa suburb where metal boxes and eight vehicles were seized and towed to Kilimani Police Station.
