NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10- North Horr Member of Parliament Chachu Ganya has castigated the Government for turning a blind eye to the recent killings in the border constituency.

Ganya said the unknown assailants from the neighbouring Ethiopia killed 11 people, whom he says had gathered to deliberate on measures to ensure there is a peaceful coexistence among communities living in the area.

He wondered why Marsabit County leaders have failed to call for action days after the incident, which he said it is part of a worrying trend and has vowed to pursue justice for deceased.

“We shall not stop pursuing justice and peaceful coexistence. We have seen massacres, but this will not deter us,” he said. “It is so unfortunate that the Government has failed us…we have not seen any significance response by the Government.”

Addressing journalists on Friday, the MP said he was willing to pursue the matter “up to the ICC. We demand that the Ethiopian Government compensate our people.”

According to authorities, the killings in Forolle area, which is a border town were over a dispute on a watering point, but the MP insist the 11 mostly elders were killed while on a peace mission.

He has called on the government to deploy military along the troubled area to ensure law and order is restored.

“There is no alternative to peace,” he asserted.
