NAIROBI, Kenya, May 10 – Former Chairman of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Macharia Njeru is the winner of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) elections for a male representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Njeru garnered 2,738 votes, beating Tom Ojienda who got 2,545 in a hotly contested election held yesterday in 28 centers countrywide.
Other candidates in the race were Ongoto Mongare and Irungu Gathii.
Njeru is the managing partner at Macharia-Mwangi & Njeru Advocates and a senior advocate of the High Court and the founding chairman of IPOA.
He will now serve as a commissioner for the JSC for five years.
