MAKUENI, Kenya, May 15 – A truck driver has died after his lorry went up in flames after colliding head-on with a trailer at Kenani near Mtito Andei on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
Makueni Police Commander Joseph Napeiyan says the driver was burned beyond recognition in the morning accident.
He said one of the lorries was trying to avoid a pothole when it collided with the other before bursting into flames.
Heavy traffic is being experienced between Mtito Andei and Kambu town following the accident.
The remains of the lorry driver has been taken to Makindu Hospital Mortuary.
Police are on the ground to help clear the road.
