Kolosh garnered 11,053 votes against Sheikh’s 6,532.
NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 26 – Jubilee Party’s Ahmed Kolosh has won the Wajir West Parliamentary by-election after beating his closest challenger Ibrahim Sheikh of KANU by more than 4,500 votes.
Kolosh garnered 11,053 votes against Sheikh’s 6,532, according to the results released on Friday morning by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which conducted the poll held on Thursday.
The low-key exercise had been touted as a two-horse race between the two contestants who went toe to toe after the seat fell vacant when Kolosh’s victory in the 2017 election was nullified following a petition by Sheikh.
Both leaders had complained of the malfunctioning of the IEBC kits for the better part of Thursday, in what they claimed locked out many potential voters.
