, NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 21- A new survey by Ipsos Kenya shows that Eastern, Central and Western regions lead in the ongoing registration of people under the National Integration Identity Management System famously known as Huduma Namba.

According to the Survey, 90 pc of Kenyans are aware of the ongoing exercise but attribute long queues and the perception that it is time-consuming for failing to register, yet.

So far according to the Government, some 11 million Kenyans have acquired the Huduma Namba.

Majority of those who have not registered at 46 pc say they are busy, blame long queues at 16 pc while others at 15 pc say they are not aware of the exercise.

There are however those who are not aware of where they are supposed to register at 7 pc while another 5 pc don’t think it is necessary.

The 45-day multi-billion shillings exercise will cover all people residing in the country including Kenyans living abroad.

“The National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) guards the integrity of our data much better than the manual system we are moving away from…It moves the country from a manual, scattered and cumbersome data management regime to an organised digital service delivery platform,” the President said on Friday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimates the number of Kenyans abroad to be about three million and is continuously on the rise.

President Kenyatta has since directed Huduma Namba registration centres remain open during the Easter period in order to give those who may have been too held up a chance register.
