NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 2 – A lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa is pursuing prosecution of the Dean of students Samuel Nderitu Wakanyua for alleged assault.
Rosa Ko wants the application for judicial review filed by Wakanyua seeking to stop the criminal case pending before a Kibera court dismissed.
The dean was charged on the March 24 for allegedly assaulting Ko and causing her bodily harm.
Ko through her lawyer stated that the dean had disagreed with her over drafting of examination questions for political science students.
The dean is said to have grabbed her hand and twisted it before fellow lecturers rescued her.
In a replying affidavit, she stated that the dean had asked her to attend an examination moderation for political science students where she is senior lecturer, which was held at Nsubuga Hall instead of the campus board room.
Ko is said to have raised concerns over the venue of the meeting that was an open room and students could listen to their discussions that involved setting of examination questions.
She raised the issue with the dean and informed him that she would not approve the draft questions unless her concerns were addressed.
Ko further indicated that the dean has intimidated potential witnesses who are mainly students and lecturers from recording statements in fear of victimization.
She contended that individuals who attended the meeting were directly appointed by the dean and have declined to record statements.
