NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 31 – Five persons were rushed to hospital Sunday morning after a bus overturned in Lamu County.
According to Kenya Red Cross, the bus lost control before rolling in Koreni area near Mpeketoni.
Those injured in the accident were rushed to Mpeketoni sub-county for treatment.
In mid October last year, five passengers were injured after a public service vehicle they were traveling in collided with a lorry in Witu along Lamu-Mombasa highway.
A similar accident in December 2017 resulted into several injuries with a crash in the preceding year having claimed a passenger after a public service vehicle rolled severally after veering off the road in Mkunumbi, Lamu West.
Traffic accidents in Lamu have mainly been attributed to poor state of roads in the county.
The national government recently awarded a Sh 10.8 billion tender for the construction of the Lamu-Garsen road in a bid to improve dilapidated road infrastructure in the northern coast county.
