NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 12 – An attempt by embattled National Land Commission Chairman Muhammad Swazuri to call a meeting before his term expires next week has been thwarted by a Nairobi court.
Anti-Corruption Division Judge Hedwig Ong’undi refused to allow him do so saying the “court cannot supervise NLC matters”.
Swazuri had argued that it was prudent for him to address a meeting to hand over before his exit next Tuesday when his term expires.
According to the judge, when Swazuri was released on bail, the terms bound him not to interfere with prosecution witnesses lined to give evidence against him in a graft case he is facing.
A good number of his juniors that he intends to speak to are witnesses in the case.
