Obado to know bail fate Friday in guns possession case

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 16 – Migori Governor Okoth Obado is due back in court Friday morning to know his bail fate after the prosecution sought to have him detained for two weeks for them to conclude an investigation into the possession of eight guns.

Obado has been in police cells since Wednesday when he was arrested following the discovery of the firearms in his house during a raid by EACC detectives who are investigating him over a Sh2.5 billion corruption allegation.

According to a senior prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki, detectives want more time to ascertain if any of the guns in Obado’s possession were used to commit crimes.

But Obado’s lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Rodger Sagana are opposed to the application to deny Obado bail, terming it a witch-hunt and clear violation of his rights.
