NTSA says production of car number plates has resumed

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 16 – The production of car number plates has resumed after a shortage of raw materials, the Director of National Transport and Safety Authority Francis Meja has said.

He said he expected the backlog in the clearance of vehicles at Container Freight Stations will be addressed in the next five days.

Through a statement sent to newsrooms, Meja said NTSA had already taken measures to ensure that there will be no delay in issuance of licenses and release of cars from the port.

“We thank Kenyans in this regard and look forward to steady delivery service,” read a part of the statement.

He said the shortage of raw materials has since been resolved.

Thousands of vehicles are reported to have been held in various depots in Mombasa following delay in issuance of registration plates by NTSA.
