Inquest into Baby Pendo’s death concludes Thursday

, KISUMU, Kenya, Nov 8 – An inquest into the death of six-month-old Baby Samantha Pendo is expected to end Thursday at the Kisumu Law Courts.

An activist Audi Ogada will take the stand in the afternoon for cross-examination.

The inquest started in February this year.

Baby Pendo died in August last year after allegedly being hit by police officers who were quelling violence that erupted after President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner of the presidential election.

The Office of the DPP ordered an inquest after police officers failed to ascertain those behind the death.

Baby Pendo died while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu where she was admitted in critical condition.

A total of 21witnesses were lined up by the prosecution and majority have testified.

Baby Pendo’s parents, Joseph Abaja and Lencer Achieng were some of the witnesses who appeared before Chief Magistrate Beryl Omollo.
