Senior PwC Kenya manager dies after jumping off 17th floor

Mumbo worked at PWC as the Assistant Manager at the Executory and Forensic Investigations Department.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 12 – A senior official at Price-Water-House-Coopers has died after jumping from the 17th floor of the firm’s Westlands office here in Nairobi.

The audit firm’s Regional Senior Partner Peter Ngahu has confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Stephen Mumbo who succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Mumbo worked at PWC as the Assistant Manager at the Executory and Forensic Investigations Department.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm that there was a tragic incident at PwC Kenya offices today morning where we lost one of our colleague Stephen Mumbo. Steve fell off 17th floor early this morning,” Ngahu said in a statement.

“This is an unfortunate incident and a big blow to the PwC family.”

Kilimani police chief Michael Muchiri says they are investigating circumstances that led to the death but are treating it as suicide.

Suicide cases are on the increase lately, in what is attributed to stress due to various challenges.
