NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 25 – Migori Governor Okoth Obado spent another night in remand prison even after he was freed bail Wednesday in the murder case of Sharon Otieno and her unborn child.
His lawyer Cliff Ombeta stated that there was an issue with one of his sureties and having no time to handle it before the close of business, decided to deal with the matter Thursday morning.
He explained that the governor deposited the Sh5 million cash bail as ordered and provided two sureties of Sh5mn each but there were queries on the securities provided.
Other conditions for his release according to Justice Jessie Lessit were not to go anywhere near the Sharon Otieno murder scene in Homabay.
He is expected to leave remand on Thursday.
His aides Michael Oyamo and Casper Obiero were however denied bail with Justice Lessit stating that their freedom would intimidate witnesses in the case.
She further directed that Obado should not skip any court session as his bail could be revoked at any time.
Justice Lessit further warned Obado against communicating with the parents, siblings or rather any close relative of the deceased.
