NYERI, Kenya, Oct 25 – A political activist was Wednesday night stabbed to death in Nyeri County.
Joan Muthoni was stabbed several times by a man who alleges to be her husband. He later surrendered at Nyeri Central Police Station.
According to Mugambi Mathai, another man who claims to be Muthoni’s husband said she had told him that there was a person who was threatening her and wanted to move from Kamakwa to another part of Nyeri Town.
The mother of three was a regular feature in political rallies within the county.
Nyeri Central Police Station chief Paul Kuria said that the suspect is in police custody and will be arraigned in court.
The body of the deceased was taken to Nyeri Referral Hospital mortuary.
