No hiccups as KCPE exams continue in Nyanza

, NYANZA, Kenya, Oct 30 – The national examinations for class eight candidates kicked off smoothly in Nyanza region, according to the Regional Director of Education.

Richard Chepkawai stated that the exercise is progressing well without any hiccup recorded so far.

Chepkawai pointed out that the organisation including posting of security personnel has been superb.

He stated that he has received no complaint so far from the counties head of education.

He explained that proper arrangements have been made to ensure schools within Islands in Lake Victoria received the papers on time. “I am visiting a number of counties today, so far nothing bad to report.”

Chepkawai expressed optimism that the exercise will be conducted in a conducive atmosphere.

More than 1 million candidates are sitting for the KCPE exams.

The candidates sat for their mathematics paper in the morning followed by the English language exam at 11.30 am after which they will have the English composition in the afternoon.

A team of more than 100,000 teachers and 70,000 security officers have been deployed across the country for 3-day exams.
