Migori Governor Obado bail hearing due Friday

The prosecution also sought more time to respond to an affidavit filed by Sharon’s family and the Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya (FIDA), with regard to the suspects fresh bid to be released on bail/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 12 – The High Court will on Friday hear the bail application by Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is in remand after denying charges of murdering his lover Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.

His application will be heard together with those of his personal assistant Michael Oyamo and county clerk Caspal Obiero after their cases were consolidated.

The prosecution also sought more time to respond to an affidavit filed by Sharon’s family and the Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya (FIDA), with regard to the suspects fresh bid to be released on bail.

On Monday Justice Jessie Lesiit ordered that Obado, Oyamo and Obiero be detained at Industrial Area Remand Prison until Friday.

This is after they were charged afresh with two counts of murder after the court allowed the prosecution to amend the charge sheet and include the murder of Sharon Otieno’s baby.

The three had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges.
