, KISUMU, Kenya, Oct 3 – The High Court in Kisumu has denied bail to a Ugandan, Jackline Auma, who is accused of killing a woman and her child in Muhoroni Township in June this year.

Auma is accused of killing her employer Elizabeth Atieno Ojwang and three month old baby Lynne Benedict Okoth on June 6, 2018 at Shauri Yako Estate in Muhoroni.

Justice Fred Ochieng ruled that she is a flight risk and denied her bail until her case comes up for hearing on November 6.

“Considering that the accused was arrested in Uganda where she fled to after the occurrence of the incident which gave rise to this case, I find that it constitutes a compelling reason for not granting bail to the accused at least for now,” he stated.

The Judge further ordered the prosecution to provide the defence with all the witnesses statements within seven days.

The court last month deferred the plea taking for lack of a medical assessment report on the accused person.
