Kalonzo roots for non-contested referendum

Kalonzo said through the building of bridges initiative, Kenyans will have an opportunity to air their concerns and input on the governance they would desire among other issues.

NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 7 – Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is now rooting for a non-contested referendum, where the contentious matters will be tabled for a national dialogue and agreed upon before they are subjected to a referendum.

The Wiper leader said there is need to re-look at the supreme law and perfect it where the stakeholders including the Church, Non-Governmental organizations, Political Leaders and the public among others feel there are issues of concern.

Kalonzo said through the building of bridges initiative, Kenyans will have an opportunity to air their concerns and input on the governance they would desire among other issues.

“This time I am calling on all of us, to make sure through the building of bridges initiative we come up with a document which will address these issues which are afflicting us, incredibly high wage bills from the county levels to the presidency” said Kalonzo, on the day Deputy President William Ruto, who has been opposing calls for the referendum changed tune, and started asking for the question and date to be set.

The referendum calls are championed by NASA leader Raila Odinga, who says, it is the only way to solve challenges facing the country.

Concerning devolution, Kalonzo said it must be safeguarded and strengthened because that is the only avenue where the public is feeling the real impact of Governance.

Kalonzo at the same time has challenged the church to speak on the ills, which are affecting the country including corruption, community conflicts and further take a front seat in uniting the Country.

The Wiper Leader was speaking today at an ordination ceremony of Reverend Samuel Kairu of Covenant Worship Church in Ruai.
He was accompanied by Wiper Secretary General Senator. Judith Sijeny and Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo.
