Boinnet lauds AP who apprehended two conmen in Westlands

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 19 – Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has lauded the Administration Police officer who apprehended two suspects who had conned a man in Westlands.

No one was injured during the Wednesday’s incident despite the officer shooting eight times in his bid to apprehend the two.

Speaking to Capital FM News, the IG said the AP’s act affirms that there are many professional officers within the National Police Service.

“He did a commendable job and I have extended the same message to him,” the IG said.

The officer, Joash Ombati was manning a bank in Westland when he saw a man being tossed out of a speeding vehicle.

He boarded a waiting taxi and gave chase where other than apprehending two suspects, he also recovered Sh400, 000 part of what the victim had parted with.

Police were granted more time before the suspects can face robbery with violence charges.

The victim, Amos Charo, had travelled from Voi to Nairobi according to police hoping to buy cheap construction materials from people he had interacted with on OLX-the global online marketing platform.

But the probable sellers turned out to be conmen.
