MIGORI, Kenya, Oct 8 – Voting in the Migori County senatorial by-election came to a close on Monday at 5pm.

Counting of ballots was expected to commence immediately in the mini-poll, which was marked by a low voter turnout.

A civilian was arrested earlier at a polling station in Awendo after he threatened some voters with a pistol.

The county tallying centre is at the Migori Technical Training College where security has been beefed up.

Nyanza Police Coordinator Leonard Katana said only those with accreditation would be allowed into the tallying centre.

There are 826 polling stations in the eight constituencies in Migori County.
