, NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 14 – All is set ahead of October 20 Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kakamega County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead Kenyans in celebrating the day in Bukhungu Stadium, where notable people are usually recognized.

State House spokesperson Kanze Dena says among other issues, the President will demand accountability how resources are being used, more so towards recovery of the ailing sugar industry during the celebrations.

“Leaders from the region did come to see the president and had a seat with the president and asked for assistance in the sugar industry and the wider agriculture sector. The president has stated that he expects to see a difference in the sector seeing that a lot of money has been put in the sector with hopes of reviving it,” Dena said.

The president goes to the County when authorities have sustained a crackdown contraband sugar that has adversely affected farmers in the county and the Western Kenya region.
