NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 9 – Flying squad officers have arrested two suspects in Machakos believed to be members of a syndicate involved in motor vehicle theft in the country.
The Tuesday afternoon swoop led by Flying squad boss Musa Yego led to the arrest of a Machakos-based witchdoctor and another man who were taken to the DCI headquarters for questioning.
Yego said recovered more than 130 ID cards in the witchdoctor’s compound who is accused of colluding with car thieves.
Also recovered were motor vehicle parts, with police saying the compound was used to re-assemble them before they are sold as spare parts.
Kenyans have been cautioned against buying cars in the black market since they might get themselves into trouble with authorities.
“If a car was involved in robbery or any other offence, one can easily find himself answering for a crime he did not commit,” he said.
Yego says they will be looking out on rogue mechanics who could be involved in the crime.
