NAIROBI,Kenya,Sep 24 – Nairobi County Assembly is set to resume on Tuesday amid chaos following the impeachment of Speaker Beatrice Elachi.

A spot check by Capital FM News established that the Speaker’s Office remains closed even those that work there can’t access it.

This is despite the Speaker having obtained stay orders from the Labour Relations Court directing her continued service as the Speaker of Nairobi County Assembly pending determination of the matter.

A section of MCAs have indicated that top on the agenda when they resume will also be the consideration of motion to impeach Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

The Minority Whip Peter Imwatok said the Governor must address issues they had raised before in regards to how County affairs are being conducted.

“Last month we raised very serious issues with the Governor and we are not going back. The Governor risks impeachment if he doesn’t honour what we asked him to do,”said Imwatok.

During a special sitting on September 6, Deputy Minority Whip Ogeto had moved a motion on the state of the County where they demanded the Nairobi Governor to restore order in the County.

Ogeto has since said that plans to impeach the Governor are still on unless he meets the demands of the County Assembly.

The MCAs wanted Governor Sonko to cease from operating from his rural home in Mua,Machakos instead and return operations to City Hall.

The MCAs faulted Sonko on how he is suspending officers without giving them time to defend themselves.

The other issue has been about appointing a Deputy Governor; a seat that has been vacant since the resignation of Polycarp Igathe early this year.

MCAs from both NASA and Jubilee were in agreement that the County is not heading in the right direction.
