, NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 2 – Former Salaries and Remunerations Commission (SRC) Chairperson Sarah Serem are among five nominees for various ambassadorial posts who were set for vetting on Thursday.
Others to be vetted are former Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro and former State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu.
If approved, Serem will be posted to China as Kenya’s ambassador while Muhoro will head to Malaysia while Esipisu will be Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Serem will be vetted by the National Security, Defense and Foreign Relations Committee of the National assembly which had been asked by Garissa Town MP Aden Duale to reject her nomination, “because she slashed MPs salaries and allowances.
Duale had stated that the vetting would be a perfect opportunity for lawmakers to get back at Serem.
But the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya North Rift branch has cautioned MPs against using vetting as a tool for revenge.
Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has already sent a petition to the National Assembly, asking the committee vetting Muhoro to reject his nomination for bungling various cases when he served as the country’s top sleuth.
Muhoro, however, rejects the allegations as baseless.
