, NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 24 – The government will commence an exercise on Tuesday to flush out illegal foreigners as well as those working in the country without verified work permits.

According to Immigration Principal Secretary Gordon Kihalangwa, the foreigners had enough time to complete their verification, and said those found in the country illegally or working without verified permits will be deported.

Kihalangwa stated that out of the 34,550 foreign workers with work permits only 26,552 visited Nyayo house for registration and the verification exercise, which ended last week.

Earlier on the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi had issued a 60-day ultimatum to regularize their work permits.

He had stated that unemployment levels in the country are at an all time high and Kenyans need to be cushioned from those who take jobs that they can do themselves.
