Indrawati: The powerhouse you would be remiss in overlooking

Sri Mulyani Indrawati is Indonesia’s Finance Minister/FRANCIS MBATHA

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 5 – In the language of the gambling craze that has swept through Kenya, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Indonesia’s Finance Minister, is what you would call a sure bet.

She has after all been entrusted with the onerous task of bringing tax evaders in what is South East Asia’s largest economy, made up of thousands of islands and a population of 260 million, to heel.

In an interview with Capital FM News’ Olive Burrows at the recent launch of the Pathways for Prosperity Commission in Nairobi, Indrawati spoke to the role of technology in that effort.

The former World Bank Managing Director and Chief Operations Officer also spoke on her return to the Finance Ministry after being hounded out of office in 2010, the #MeToo movement and the clamour for her to make a run at the Indonesian Presidency.
