NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – Political parties are set to hold primaries for the Kitui West by-election on Tuesday and Wednesday.
After the polls, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will receive the nomination papers on Thursday and Friday next week.
The electoral commission says it requires all interested political parties to submit names of contestants for the poll.
The seat fell vacant after Francis Nyenze died on December 7 at the age of 60 after battling with colon cancer for almost a decade.
The widow of the late lawmaker, Edith Nyenze, is among those said to be interested in the seat on a Wiper Party ticket.
