NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 5 – The government will on Friday morning unveil and flag off caravans taking new curriculum books to public schools across the country.

The event will bring together all publishers in Kenya and education stakeholders to witness the event which will entail the supply of books directly to schools.

The government recently came up with a new book distribution policy, which eliminates middlemen and will see publishers supply textbooks directly to schools.

Following this, the Kenya Literature Bureau revised its books and obtained approval to print 18 million copies for Biology, English and Chemistry for distribution to schools.

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) had emphasised the need for parents and teachers to check with the institution before buying textbooks to avoid purchasing those having misleading information.

Through its Twitter handle, the institute had displayed a sample of a book which has been going around on social media having the description of a family including couples involved in homosexual marriages.

It stressed the need for them not to be duped into buying material which will mislead school children.
