KISII, Kenya, Jan 19 – Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Deputy CEO Michael Mubea has confirmed ongoing investigations into illegal recruitment of workers by the Kisii County Government.

Mubea said that EACC received complaints from the public which prompted them to initiate the probe.

“The public tipped us that the Kisii Governor James Ongwae is currently employing those who only campaigned for him during the 2017 elections,” said Mubea.

He said that some employees got suspicious of the new workers since there was no advertisement done by the county.

The public alleged that the County Government is recruiting new employees without following regulations that govern the Employment Act.

“Our team submitted a report yesterday where by the said allegations were confirmed true whereby the EACC will take action immediately,” he said.

He said that the allegations received were many and will be treated with urgency.

Mubea asked Kisii residents to work in hand with the EACC and help in exposing any corruption.

The South Nyanza EACC coordinator said that they are still going on with the investigation and will submit a detailed report to the EACC head office.
