, NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 18 – Two men are expected in court Monday morning after they were arrested over the weekend with raw ivory worth Sh5.4 million in Maralal, Samburu County.

According to police, the men were ferrying the 27 kilograms of the ivory on a motorbike when police and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials intercepted them at Kisima Shopping Centre.

Officers said the men were delivering the ivory to a buyer when they were caught.

One of the men is 75 years old while the other is 25 years.

The incident gives an indication the illegal business in ivory is still rampant despite thorough policing and stiff penalties on those caught.
