Speaker Muturi leads MPs to Nyenze’s burial

, KITUI, Kenya, Dec 19 – Several MPs led by National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi attended the burial of Francis Nyenze on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of the Kitui West legislator arrived at his home in Kyondoni, Kabati escorted by several leaders.

Nyenze died at the age of 60 on December 6 while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

In Daniel arap Moi’s Cabinet, he headed the dockets of Environment and Natural Resources in 1997 and Sports in 2001.

In his tribute to the departed MP, Opposition leader Raila Odinga said Nyenze steered the Coalition MPs in the 11th Parliament in a difficult and hostile environment when he was the Minority Leader in the National Assembly.

President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogised the departed MP as a champion of national interests and who would never allow narrow selfish interests to jeopardize the unity of Kenyans.
