Police gun down 5 suspects in Kangundo, recover ammunition

, MACHAKOS, Kenya, Dec 2 – Five suspects described as notorious gunmen by the police have been killed in Kangundo area of Machakos County.
 
A teacher in the area was however hit by a stray bullet and died instantly during the fierce gun battle between police and the gunmen.
 
The five suspects were being trailed by a team of Flying Squad officers from Nairobi and are believed to have shifted ground to Machakos after they learnt they were being monitored.
 
Police recovered four Ak-47 rifles, 2 Ceska pistols and 15 rounds of ammunition.
 
Kangundo police boss Samuel Anampiu, who led officers to the suspects’ hideout says the police will not relent in the war on crime adding that they are determined to reverse the trend of increasing insecurity in the area.
