Magoha says KCSE exam results not being released Monday

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 18 – The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has denied reports that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released on Monday.

This followed claims on social media that the results were to be released on December 18 “after Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi briefs President Uhuru Kenyatta.”

“KNEC PROGRAM, Monday 18/12/2017 program: 9:00am briefing the president, 10:00am release of 2017 KCSE RESULTS #KCSE2017,” the advisory widely circulated on social media claimed.

In an immediate response, KNEC Chairman George Magoha described the reports as false and stated that the process of marking national examinations is a sensitive exercise which is normally carried out meticulously with no external pressure.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to state categorically that the reports are totally incorrect. I advise the media and the public to desist from disseminating speculative messages that can only end up heightening anxiety among the public and candidates,” he said.

He explained that as soon as the process is complete, the Ministry of Education will use its official channels to announce the date and time of releasing the results.
