NAIROBI, Kenya Dec 12 – US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec has lauded the decision by the National Super Alliance to postpone the inauguration of its leader Raila Odinga as the President of the People’s Assembly, which was slated for Tuesday.
In a post on his Twitter handle, Godec termed the move as a positive step towards national dialogue.
“NASA’s decision yesterday is a positive step. We again call for a sustained, open, and transparent national conversation involving all Kenyans to build national unity and address long-standing issues,” said Godec.
The US Ambassador had last Friday led fellow diplomats, clergy and business sector representative in meeting the NASA Principals where they called on political leaders to lead the nation into open and transparent dialogue.
NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi announced on Sunday that the postponement was due to internal, national and international interventions.
The Coalition however said it will inform its supporters of a new date for the swearing-in.
