MAKUENI, Kenya, Dec 19 – Three people died Tuesday morning while harvesting sand at Kwa Muvai River in Kilome, Makueni County.
According to Mukaa Police Chief Charles Muthui, a rescue operation was launched and two people were rescued before being rushed to hospital.
According to Muthui, the accident occurred at 5am.
He cautioned sand harvesters against working in dunes and rivers at night, saying it is against county laws on sand harvesting.
