15 more people die in accident on Thika-Garissa highway

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 18 – At least 15 people died in yet another road accident Sunday night on the Thika-Garissa highway.

According to police, a matatu that was headed to Matuu from Thika was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry that was heading towards Thika near Makutano in Kilimambogo.

The police stated that the accident occurred while the matatu was trying to avoid collision with a motorcyclist before ramming head-on into the lorry.

On Saturday night, seven passengers died when an Eldoret-bound Public Service Vehicle with 14 passengers lost control colliding with two trucks heading to Nakuru.

The 9pm accident occurred at Kamara area in Koibatek division, Baringo County.

According to the Timboroa police base, five passengers in the matatu died on the spot with two succumbing to injuries at the Eldama Ravine Hospital.

Close 160 people have died through accidents in December with the Salgaa-Mau Summit stretch claiming the most lives.
