NAKURU, Kenya, Dec 12 – Fourteen people were on Monday killed in an accident that involved a tractor, Public Service Vehicle and three saloon cars.
Bungoma County Commissioner, Joshua Chepcheng said the matatu was ferrying passenger from Kisumu to Kitale when the accident occurred at Kamukuywa bridge along the Kitale-Webuye road.
The tractor was transporting sugar cane.
Chepcheng said survivors of the Monday night accident were taken to Kiminini sub-county hospital.
Bodies of the victims were taken to the hospital’s mortuary.
Kamukuywa bridge is a black spot where many road crashes have occurred, claiming tens of lives.
Residents have urged the relevant authorities to erect speed bumps at the spot.
